triangle SCREENING on OCTOBER 8, 2011 of "The Skin Of The South" and "Rodan"

As part of Honda's centennial celebration, "The Skin Of The South" and "Rodan" will be shown at the Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival which will be held from 10/6th through 10/13th.

The screening will be a part of their special program titled "Films about Yamagata", which will focus on Yamagata prefecture where Honda is from.  Along with the showing of the films, there will be a talk show with Honda's son Ryuji and others as well as an exhibit of scripts and photos, all free of charge.

In celebrating the reprinting of Naofumi Higuchi's book by Kokushokankokai, a special screening + talk event will be held at the Ginza Cine Patosu in Chuo-ku, Tokyo.

triangle The book "Tokusatsu wo Meguru Hitobito - Nihon Eiga Showa no Jidai"  (People in SFX - the Shōwa Era of Japanese Film) will be available in early August from Wides Shuppan publishing company. (\1,600 + tax)
This book contains a long interview with director Honda which was his first and was featured in the magazine "Uchūsen", as well as testimonies from valuable special effects people such as Akira Ifukube, Akira Watanabe and Nobuo Yajima.

A reissue of the 1992 book "Good Morning Godzilla - Director Ishiro Honda and an era at the Film Studio" (author: Naofumi Higuchi) is now available from Kokushokankokai in a renewed format by Shinji Higuchi.  (\2,415 incl. tax)

The book "Mothra Film Encyclopedia", celebrating the 50th anniversary of the original Mothra, has just been released by Yoensha (\1905). The book details all of Mothra's film appearances and features articles, essays and interviews by sfx luminaries such as Shusuke Kaneko, Masaaki Tezuka, Shinji Higuchi, Hiroshi Sagae, Shinji Nishikawa, Yuji Kaida, and Norman England.

The long awaited, out of print and sold out book will be put back in print.  This is a collection of interviews with Ishiro Honda, and the reprint version will also contain a commentary by his son, Ryuji Honda.

triangle New Book -  "Kanpon Tsuburaya Eiji Zuihitsu Hyoronshusei"

A complete collection of various written materials by Eiji Tsuburaya will be available in stores in December, 2010, published by Wides Shuppan.  Edited by Hiroshi Takeuchi, this book contains essays, critiques, dialogues and symposium manuscripts and other miscellaneous writings by the famous SFX director.  It also includes contents from an SF Magazine panel discussion titled "Film/SF is SF/What can be expected out of films?" with Ishiro Honda.

triangle FM radio program "Ishiro Honda Laboratory"

As a pre-celebration of Honda's centennial in 2011, an FM radio program is currently airing nationwide in Japan.

Each program will introduce and give a brief explanation of a Honda film, feature theme songs, BGMs and sound effects from the film, as well as an interview with various people relating to Ishiro Honda.
