Congratulations on the opening of the official website.  The fact that this launch is not only for Japan but also for the world just confirms the greatness of Honda sensei (teacher).  I was originally planning to touch on several of the given topics, but instead, please allow me to just go with the flow.

The memory I have of Mr. Honda is how much of a ggentle directorh he was.  He would not say too much about the acting performances.  He never said a word especially towards the actresses; he always respected and allowed us to be ourselves.  So as a result, I was always able to act freely.  I watched many foreign films since I was young, and recall acting with performances of actors such as Françoise Arnoul in mind.

Out of the numerous films I was given the opportunity to appear in, I especially enjoyed playing characters with very strong personalities.  In the directorfs 1963 film titled gMatangoh, I played the role of gMami Sekiguchih.  I worked very hard, though feeling at ease, and was able to truly enjoy acting.  Out of all of the films I have appeared in, especially amongst all of the Toho SFX films, gMatangoh is my favorite movie.  It would make me so happy if such works like gMatangoh get known through a website such as this one and is seen by people all around the world.

Director Honda was always smiling.  As I mentioned before, once we get into the filming, he would pull out the best from me as one actress by saying things like gThis role is such-and-such.  The rest is up to you, do as you like.h  He was smiling no matter what was going on, and would also always say gsure, sureh.  In between the takes, he would joke by speaking in Yamagata dialect in front of us actresses, keeping the atmosphere always fun and pleasant.

I have just gone on and on about what came to mind, but I really hope the world will be able to get to know the kind of person director Honda really was, his craftsmanship in his works, etc. through this very website.
