This is Ishirō Honda's third feature directorial film. Here, the director once again returns to the sea, depicting the battle between humans and nature, stories of people young and old, men and women.  For the stubborn old fishing ship Captain, logic is disregarded and the only thing that counts is one’s experience.  In contrast to him is a young crewman who is well-educated and intelligent, but has a bad habit of drinking too much and stirring up trouble...
